What is it?  You, tell me!

For those of you who have seen the inside of a Hiwatt amplifier, they are really a work of art when it comes to an example of the proper to layout, and wire an amplifier chassis.  In the picture below you can see yet another example of such a work of art.

However, in the piece of exquiment pictured below, this was not the exception, but the rule.

You will also notice that from todays standards, the discription of being over built, would apply very well too.

The weight of this unit is a hair short of a hundred pounds.  The size of the two transformers on both sides are the bulk of this weight.  Not to mention, an indication of the power potential sitting inside this chassis.

The existance of those four tall sardine can high voltage capacitors next to the transformers, suggests some very high voltage is going to be present with a high degree of current potential being available from the size of the transformers.

Now, that you know what you have been looking at, I can tell you that this is only one piece of gear, that when combine with others of a similar type, will form a testing system.   What would such a system be testing.
